“3D Talo offered a completely new and fresh angle to our associations marketing. The VR volleyball game gave an interesting and a modern feel to the Leka Volley brand.”
Sales manager, Leka Volley
The Leka Battle project began with a mutual ideation session with Leka Volley’s executive director, Kai Ranta-Pere. We introduced him to VR-technology, and moved to brainstorm a virtual world that would serve our local volleyball team the best.
The talk resulted in a surgical strike to support Leka Volley’s marketing. We created a virtual practice stadium, where the player gets to rehearse contacting the ball from a serve. For the atmosphere to be authentic and immersive, we paid close attention to all the little details inside the court. Inside you can find various props, like the team’s tactical board, player banners and giant screens and score displays, just like the real deal.
The most intriguing challenges of the Leka Battle project had to do with serving ball cannon, when we attempted to program the cannon to serve the most physically accurate balls as possible. In the game the cannon shoots league-level floater serves.
I acted in Leka Battle as our project lead. As a friend of sports I await with great excitement what future possibilities virtual reality yields to sports and excercise.
