For Linkity Ltd we designed a casing for a mobile phone that functions as a nfc tag identifier in work environments. The tag, in a form of an ID card or keychain, then functions both as an identification and a time tracking device combined with an application on the smartphone itself.
As an industrial design project, the design consisted mainly of the design of the casings appearance and usability. Both the end user and maintenance were considered throughout sketching and primitive 3D modelling.
Most prominent designs were then evend out in to comprehensive visualizations that were delivered to the client. The most pleasing of the designs was chosen to be precisely modeled and printed out as an 3D printed prototype and to be tested out physically. This model was then enhanced upon even further with the data gatrhered through testing in mind and a new prototype printed. The final shape of the design started to flesh out
Utilization of 3D printing benefited the all out design considerably. Printing a physical prototype can be a whole lot cheaper and faster than crafting one by hand and the design could be thoroughly reviewed for the optimal end result.
